I feel like I've become earth mother since moving into our house with an inviting garden. I've got a compost bin where I recycle veg and fruit matter into wonderful soil. The garden is well underway and has been for a month now. We planted romaine lettuce, broccoli and strawberries. And we are already harvesting the lettuce. Broccoli will be next. And I can't wait for the strawberries!

Today, I planted more veg... two kinds of peppers, squash, and eggplant... and herbs. Feels so good to plan my garden out. It also feels good to work outdoors in the soil.

We still have to plant lots of tomato plants... since one could never enough tomatoes... a cheese and cheddar sandwich on fresh homemade white bread... yum. Come to think of it, I should replace my bread machine, but that's for another post...

I never thought I was a gardener, but I am. And I like the fact I am composting and growing my own veg to feed us. I enjoy the most is working in the garden with my son then cooking together.

If you can't grow your own veg, I urge you support your local farm stand, local farmers market, and/or CSA.  Help keep family farms alive and well.
